On September 1, 1921, Acting Sergeant Brink was killed when his police motorcycle collided with a truck at 40th and Flora. Sergeant Brink was traveling eastbound on 40th Street when the the 5 ton loaded dirt truck driving north on Flora ran over Sergeant Brink after he was thrown from his bike attempting to avoid the collision and died of a skull fracture at the scene. A coroner's grand jury found no fault in the accident that took the life of Sergeant Brink.

Acting Sergeant Brink, 26, had been with the agency since June 1, 1921. He was assigned to Country Club Station at 63rd and Baltimore. He was promoted to Acting Sergeant the previous day. He was a US Navy veteran having served for five years, from 1914 to 1919, as a Chief Radio Electrician and attended Park College in Parkville, MO. He was a member of Compass Masonic Lodge, Kansas City Scottish Rite and Ararat Shrine. Interred: Noland Cemetery, Weatherby Lake, MO.
