On December 19, 1923, as Officer Wilson
stepped from the corner of 41st and
Troost, he was struck by a car. The
car was driven by his friend, Louis
Becker, a business man the City Market
area. The first call to come into the
Woodland station advising of the accident
was taken by Betty Bickett, Officer
Wilson's daughter. She ordered a ambulance
for her father and then passed out.
Officer Wilson died as a result of a
broken neck.
(It should be noted that Officer Wilson
was the father-in-law of Carl Bickett,
another officer killed in the line of
duty in 1921.)
