Sergeant Bjorkback was killed after a 25-mile pursuit with robbery suspects. After gunfire was exchanged near 87th Street and Raytown Road, Sergeant Bjorkback lost control of his car and crashed.

Sergeant Bjorkback had been with the agency for 29 years and was survived by his wife.
