On
December 8, 1908, Officer Mullane
and Officer Albert Dolbow were dispatched
on a disturbance involving James
Sharp, a bearded, nudist preacher
who went by the name "Adam
God". Sharp's followers were
heavily armed and very antagonistic
towards authority figures. Upon
the officers' arrival, they became
involved in a fight with some of
the followers and Sharp himself
at 5th and Main. Officer Mullane
and Officer Dolbow were gunned down
during the course of the fight and
died before help could arrive.
Officer Dolbow had been with the
agency for three years.
