Officer William Wood was struck and killed by a passing car while handling a call.
At around midnight on August 29, 1934, Officer Wood was on foot handling a call at a residence at 6011 East 15th Street. Officer Wood was struck by a car when he stepped into the street from between two cars and sustained severe head and back injuries. He was taken to the Menorah Medical Center, where he died on August 30, 1934.
Officer Wood, 62, was survived by his wife, Maud, and a child. Interment was at St. Mary's Cemetery.
